Øneheart Pivots From Ambient Stillness to Techno on 'Hero'

Russian producer Øneheart has released a new single, Hero, marking a sharp turn away from the cinematic ambient sound that made him a streaming phenomenon. The 20-year-old, who joined Spotify's billion-stream club with his 2022 track snowfall, has built the new cut for the dancefloor, swapping reverb-heavy soundscapes for techno-inspired kick drums.

Euphoric Synths Meet Distorted Kicks

Featuring Europa, the track opens with hazy synths that flutter across the mix in ping-pong patterns while vocal swells drift underneath. Then distorted, chunky kick drums push the record into heavier terrain. Outside of its vocal flourishes, Hero plays as an instrumental but stands as one of the more unique, multi-genre tracks in recent memory.

A String of Departures

The release continues a stretch of work pulling Øneheart away from the liminal ambient sound that made his name. He produced a remix of Ledbyher's UP TO MY NECK IN U, which she debuted at her sold-out London headline show in May, and he has previously collaborated with electronic music icon Moby.

Øneheart built his following on snowfall, the 2022 track that soundtracked millions of TikTok videos and turned slow, reverb-heavy soundscapes into a streaming phenomenon. He told EDM.com last year he hoped the genre would keep moving forward. Hero arrives June 27, 2026.
