Found Unresponsive in Haarlem
Police in Haarlem found a 34-year-old man lying in the street on the Gedempte Oude Gracht around 9:30am on Sunday, October 27, the final day of Amsterdam Dance Event's 30th anniversary edition. He was reportedly unresponsive at first but managed to speak briefly once officers reached him.
According to Haarlem Centrum police officer Nico van Stenis, the man still had hospital stickers on his chest when they found him. Van Stenis wrote in an Instagram post that the man told officers he had attended ADE and used GHB, ecstasy, and cocaine, among other substances, and had not slept for several days.
Situation Escalates in Ambulance
Officers initially planned to drive the man home, but he began "spacing out badly again" in the police car, according to a police spokesperson who spoke to Haarlem105. They determined he needed medical attention, and ambulance staff called to the scene agreed.
Van Stenis wrote that the man was wrecking the ambulance, prompting officers to rush to the hospital. Police reportedly brought him under control and tied him to a bed so he could receive medical care. He was also ticketed for causing a nuisance under the APV, the general local ordinance set by Dutch municipalities.
The incident occurred on the closing day of ADE 2026, which marked the festival's 30th anniversary in Amsterdam.
