First awards ceremony for AI-generated music
The Sonic Intelligence Academy (SIQA) will hold the inaugural AI Music Awards on November 13th at The Mayan in Downtown LA. The organization describes the event as the first awards ceremony where AI music creators will be recognized as artists rather than experiments.
According to a press release from SIQA, the ceremony aims to provide a home for the AI music genre. The organization positions the development alongside historical musical origins, noting that country had Nashville and hip-hop had the Bronx. The release also states that the 90s and 2000s are the most sampled eras in history.
Three-tier classification system
SIQA is launching the awards alongside a companion app that categorizes registered tracks into three classifications: Fully AI-Generated, AI-Assisted, or Human + AI Hybrid. The last category includes techniques such as vocal cloning.
The SIQA Verified app uses audio fingerprinting technology to identify songs and report their AI classification, a system the company compares to Shazam. The organization positions the tool as a way for labels, distributors, streaming platforms and listeners to verify a track's provenance beyond a generic AI tag.
Award categories and nominees
The ceremony will feature multiple award categories, including a Visionary Award. Nominees are listed on the ceremony's website, with organizers maintaining that the selections demonstrate a movement gaining momentum rather than a novelty category.
Tickets to the AI Music Awards are now available for purchase through SIQA's website. The organization describes itself as an independent AI music intelligence and infrastructure company.
