Andrea Casta Records 22-Minute Live Set Inside Italian Marble Quarry

A Working Quarry Becomes a Stage

Andrea Casta has released The Sounds Of Marble, a 22-minute audiovisual live set recorded inside the Botticino Marble Quarry in Brescia, Italy. Filmed during his "Cava Experience" event in June, the project includes the official music video for his latest single, Fragments, which reached No. 1 on Beatport's Hype MainStage chart. Released through Gameroom / Black Hole Recordings, the track anchors a performance that combines DJing, electric violin, an illuminated laser bow, and live audio effects inside the active quarry.

Months of preparation went into the production. Light & Magic handled video production, while BeNow s.c.p.a. managed the wider setup. Extracted marble blocks were used to construct the stage, with projections covering the quarry walls and a lighting and laser installation extending across two levels over a distance of 300 metres. Eight cameras captured the performance from multiple angles, documenting both the industrial scale of the quarry and the production built inside it.

Tracklist and Concept

The set opens with an original The Sounds Of Marble introduction before moving into Cosmic Gate's Take Me. Casta then performs Fragments, followed by tracks from Panama and Keanler, Anyma and Joji, and the Nico de Andrea remix of Meduza and Hayla's Another World. His previous single Reconnection appears near the end, before the performance closes with Hans Zimmer's Leaving Caladan from the Dune soundtrack.

Casta described creating music inside an active marble quarry as both a conceptual and visual challenge. He explained that Fragments follows the ideas first explored through Reconnection, combining trance influences with a stronger MainStage sound. The track's focus on digital fragmentation is placed alongside the history of Botticino, its workers, and the physical process behind marble extraction, continuing the "Digital Renaissance" concept introduced in his earlier work.

The Space Violin Project

Known through "The Space Violin" project, Casta performs around 200 shows each year across more than 30 countries. His career has included appearances at the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix at Monza, Rome's New Year's Eve celebration at Circo Massimo, the Cortina Alpine Ski World Championships, Expo Dubai 2020, and the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. He has also opened two Vasco Rossi concerts in front of more than 140,000 people, while his theatrical tour sold out shows in Rome, Milan, and Verona.
