Anti-Alias Departs Pretty Lights After Four Years as Visual Artist

Anti-Alias, the visual artist and live programmer behind Pretty Lights' immersive stage visuals since the project's return to touring, has left the team after four years. Jack Hurley performed at roughly 50 shows and more than 100 sets during his tenure.

A creative partnership during the comeback years

Hurley joined the Pretty Lights live project during its resurgence in the early 2020s. Led by Derek Vincent Smith, the livetronica act returned to touring in 2023 after a nearly five-year absence. Hurley worked as a real-time visual artist, developing the trippy, immersive visual environments that accompanied Smith's performances.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Hurley described the period as a formative chapter marked by experimentation and creative growth. "It's been a wild ride filled with excitement, growth, patience, innovation, and at times – nothing short of magic," he wrote. "I'm deeply grateful for my time on this team, and for the crew that I have grown to hold as such close friends and family."

Hurley thanked fans who traveled around the country to experience the shows and said he looks forward to exploring his own creative vision. "I look forward to what the future holds, for the time to continue exploring and manifesting my own creative vision, and for new avenues / opportunities that lie ahead," he wrote.

The departure marks the end of a significant creative partnership during Pretty Lights' comeback era, one that helped define the visual language of the project's live experience.
