Armin van Buuren has released a new collaboration with hard dance artist DIØN. The track, titled Burn It Up, features vocals from British rapper Scruffizer and arrived today via Armada Music, the label van Buuren co-founded more than two decades ago.
Hard Dance Meets Vintage Rave
The single pairs two distinct electronic music lineages. It opens with the high-tempo, pounding energy associated with DIØN's hard dance productions, a style that has found growing popularity among younger festival audiences over the past few years. As the track progresses, van Buuren's influences become more pronounced, and its arrangement shifts toward the vintage rave synths that defined his rise around the turn of the century.
Part of a Broader Pattern
Burn It Up continues a pattern for the trance legend, who has increasingly worked with younger producers across subgenres of dance music in recent years. The release also finds him swerving further into the intersection of trance and harder styles, a pulsing combination he has flexed in collaborations with Adam Beyer on Techno Trance, Lilly Palmer on Dopamine Machine, and Maddix on Mouth Go Lala, among others.
The track received its live premiere at last year's Amsterdam Dance Event. It is available now on streaming platforms.
