Face-to-Face Format Unites Trance and House
Armin van Buuren and John Summit performed a Face-to-Face set at A State of Trance in Warsaw, Poland on June 20. The performance took place inside Legia Warsaw Stadium and featured both artists in separate DJ booths facing one another, rather than the traditional back-to-back setup.
The format required the pair to communicate through eye contact, hand signals, and instinct as they navigated between trance and house. Van Buuren has spent 25 years building ASOT from a radio show into a global brand, while Summit has risen from Chicago club favorite to festival headliner with his blend of house and tech house.
Classics, IDs, and Cross-Genre Mashups
The set opened with an ID remix of Binary Finary's '1998' and moved through music from Faithless, Darude, and Dada Life. Summit's 2026 rework of Dogzilla's 'Without You' appeared alongside several unreleased productions from both artists.
One standout moment paired Summit's 'Where You Are' with elements of '1998', bridging modern house and classic trance. The closing sequence featured Brennan Heart, HI-LO, and Project Zeitgeist's take on 'Adagio For Strings'.
25 Years of A State of Trance
The Warsaw event marked the 25th anniversary of A State of Trance, which launched as a radio show in 2001. The Face-to-Face performance brought together different generations and sounds in front of thousands of fans.
ASOT Warsaw took place on June 20, 2026 at Legia Warsaw Stadium.
