Breakaway Partnership Brings Mobile Stage to Regional Markets
Beatport has partnered with Breakaway Festivals to bring The Block, its shipping-container-turned-stage, to multiple stops on the festival brand's 2026 tour. The mobile stage kicked off the collaboration at Breakaway Atlanta in May and continues with Breakaway Carolina from September 25-26.
The format remains consistent across each stop. Local and regional artists submit their work through a competition, and selected winners perform 45-minute sets on The Block stage. Competition victors share billing with more established names like DJ Susan, who appeared in EDM.com's Class of 2024.
Accessible Festival Brand Meets Talent Pipeline
Breakaway has built its reputation on accessibility, expanding into new cities while keeping ticket prices and production geared toward first-time festivalgoers. The partnership aligns Beatport's artist development program with Breakaway's audience—a strategic match for both brands.
Ed Hill, Beatport's Chief Brand Officer, said the collaboration extends the platform's reach. "Breakaway has grown to be one of the most authentic festival brands in the country, connecting with younger audiences in cities and states we rarely get a chance to reach," Hill noted. "Together, we can continue to build on a concept that truly moves the needle for these communities of DJs."
From UK Festivals to North American Expansion
The Block debuted at the UK's Junction 2 Festival before moving to Creamfields Liverpool, where more than 20 competition winners performed. The stage crossed the Atlantic earlier this year with an appearance at Miami's Winter Music Conference, marking the start of its North American push.
Beatport plans to expand The Block to more global events in 2027, with further details expected in the coming weeks.
