What Happened on the Flight
Johan Yang was eight hours into an overnight flight when he woke, stood up quickly, and lost consciousness within a few steps. He fell backward and hit the back of his head on the cabin floor. When he regained consciousness, blood was pouring from a gash in his scalp.
Yang applied pressure to the wound for the remainder of the flight but was unable to stop the bleeding on his own. He credited the EVA Air crew with keeping him calm and safe during the incident.
Treatment and Diagnosis
After the plane landed, Yang was taken to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California. A CT scan showed no internal bleeding, but the scalp wound was severe enough to require nine staples. Doctors instructed him to remain at home for 48 hours to be monitored for signs of concussion.
Impact on Tour Schedule
Yang will not travel to Fresno for a scheduled performance at Tidal Rave. His brother and musical partner Bernie Yang will perform the set alone. The duo's next stop is a show at the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis, which remains on the schedule. Bernie is expected to perform regardless, while Johan consults with his medical team to determine whether he will be cleared to appear.
