Bob Moses and Elderbrook are riding a massive wave of renewed interest after their collaborative track "Inner Light" closed out Rockstar Games' GTA VI: An Extended Look trailer on August 27. Spotify data shared with EDM.com shows the atmospheric house cut saw global streams climb 1,070% while playlist additions surged 4,155% in the days following the viral trailer drop.
Dance music takes center stage in the most-watched gaming trailer of the year
The GTA VI trailer showcased 15 tracks spanning multiple decades and genres, but dance music played a prominent role. Alongside "Inner Light," Depeche Mode's synth-pop anthem "People Are People" saw a 190% increase in streams and a 700% jump in playlist additions. The trailer has helped Rockstar generate more than $3 billion in preorders in just one week, according to The Guardian.
An obscure '80s deep cut steals the show
While the Bob Moses and Elderbrook collaboration posted impressive numbers, the biggest streaming winner from the trailer is "But I Think It's A Dream" by Captain & Tennille. The largely forgotten '80s R&B track saw a staggering 130,730% increase in global streams and an 885,400% jump in playlist additions, introducing the song to an entirely new generation of listeners.
All 15 tracks from the GTA VI: An Extended Look trailer have been compiled into the Grand Theft Auto Radio Playlist on Spotify, a dynamic playlist that pulls from every station across the series and tailors selections to individual listener preferences.
