Bonobo Drops Two Singles From Eighth Album 'Distance in Static'

Bonobo has released two singles from his eighth studio album, Distance in Static, arriving September 11 via Ninja Tune. The first, 'Fire on the Water,' is an atmospheric collaboration with Grammy-winning singer Arooj Aftab. The second, 'Drift,' leans toward the dancefloor with a melodic house beat that has already appeared in Bonobo's live sets earlier this year, where its palpitating rhythms have resonated with audiences.

A Global Roster of Collaborators

The 14-track album will feature contributions from Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis, and Aanya Martin, with lyrics spanning English, Urdu, and Japanese. The two new singles suggest an album that moves fluidly between intimacy and energy, a balance Bonobo has explored throughout his career.

The album opens with 'Dawn' and 'Cycles' before moving into the Arooj Aftab collaboration. Other featured tracks include 'Always on Your Side' with Joy Crookes, 'Youth's Fountain' with Nilüfer Yanya, and 'Equinoctial' with Ichiko Aoba. The record closes with 'Mercury,' featuring Kanako Yamamoto.
