BTSM and EDDIE Release 'Matrix' on Kannibalen Records

Fourth collaboration pushes into riddim territory

Black Tiger Sex Machine and EDDIE have released 'Matrix,' a track that's been circulating through BTSM's live sets before landing officially on Kannibalen Records. The fourth collaboration between the Canadian trio and Australian producer marks their most riddim-focused work to date.

The track opens with ominous organ-like synths that build suspense before climbing into a fast, rhythmic ascent. BTSM and EDDIE deploy a dramatic fakeout, stretching the tension before the drop hits. The payoff is a gritty dubstep drop built around razor-edged basses and a tight rhythmic pulse. The second drop shifts into a looser, trap-inflected groove with a twerk-ready swing while keeping the low end punishing.

A growing partnership

'Matrix' continues a partnership that's grown more prolific over the past few years. BTSM and EDDIE first linked up alongside YMIR on 2023's 'Bounce,' then reconnected in 2025 for 'Switchblade' and 'The Pit.' Each release has found a middle ground between BTSM's festival-scale bass production and EDDIE's darker, more meticulous approach.

Background on both acts

Black Tiger Sex Machine, known for its Tiger Helmet-clad live shows, has built one of bass music's most dedicated fanbases through immersive tour productions like the Movie Experience and PORTALS, the latter of which sold out runs at venues including Brooklyn Mirage and The Armory. The group's catalog includes four studio albums, among them 2018's New Worlds, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Dance chart, and 2023's PORTALS. BTSM also runs Kannibalen Records, which has helped launch the careers of artists like Apashe, Kai Wachi, and Dabin.

EDDIE has built a reputation as one of Australian dance music's more versatile producers, with releases on Monstercat, Hypnovizion, and Deadbeats and collaborations alongside REZZ, Zeds Dead, ATLiens, and Zomboy. He made his North American festival debut in 2022 at stops including EDC and Imagine Music Festival, and has since supported REZZ at Red Rocks and Brooklyn Mirage, as well as joining deadmau5's Cube V3 tour.
