Calvin Harris Closes Head Trip Set With Avicii's 'Levels'

Rescheduled After Saturday Lightning Evacuation

Calvin Harris closed his Head Trip set Sunday night with Avicii's 'Levels,' bringing one of EDM's most beloved anthems to Goldenvoice's one-time-only festival in Indio, California.

The moment almost didn't happen. Harris was originally booked to headline Saturday at the Empire Polo Club, but opening night was halted when a lightning warning forced organizers to evacuate the grounds. The interruption came during FISHER and Chris Lake's 'Under Construction' performance, and Harris never made it onstage.

Fitted Between Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia

Organizers moved his appearance to Sunday, fitting him between Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia. The latter ultimately closed Head Trip, and did so after 'Levels' concluded Harris' performance on a high.

Harris was among the many dance music artists who mourned Avicii's death in 2018, remembering him as "a beautiful soul" in a public tribute at the time. He has continued to play 'Levels' in the years since, closing his set at Austin's Coca-Cola Sips & Sounds Music Festival in similar fashion. Skrillex, who shared Sunday's lineup, also remixed the record back in 2011 and the track remains a staple of his DJ sets.

Head Trip marked Goldenvoice's inaugural festival at the Empire Polo Club venue in Indio. Swedish House Mafia took the final closing slot Sunday night.
