TL;DR

New York DJ and producer Charles D has released his first track on Truesoul, Adam Beyer's sister label to Drumcode. 'One Time For Your Mind' marks a stylistic shift for the producer, incorporating rave, electro, hard house, and Hi-NRG influences alongside his typical peak-time techno sound. The track received early support from Adam Beyer, who played it at Elrow shortly after receiving it.

A New Lane for a Drumcode Veteran

Charles D has made his debut on Truesoul, Adam Beyer's sister label to Drumcode, with a new single called One Time For Your Mind. The release is a notable step for the New York producer, who has been a fixture on Drumcode proper for years but is appearing on the imprint for the first time.

The track pulls from a wider range of influences than his typical peak-time techno output. Rave, electro, hard house, and Hi-NRG all factor into the mix, making for something a little more playful and personality-driven than what Charles D is best known for.

Injecting Fun Into Peak-Time Sets

Charles D spoke about the thinking behind the track: "This record came from wanting to inject a bit more fun and personality into my sets. I've always lived in the peak-time techno world, but over the last year, I've been experimenting with bringing in some of the electro and tech house influences that I grew up with, while still keeping everything rooted in a sound that feels authentic to me."

He also recalled the moment the track got its first real test: "I remember sending it to Adam and seeing him play it almost immediately at Elrow. Watching the crowd react was one of those moments where I knew the track was doing exactly what I hoped it would do."

Truesoul's Role in the Drumcode Ecosystem

Truesoul has long served as Drumcode's outlet for releases that sit slightly outside the label's harder techno lane, making it a natural fit for a track like this one. The single is available now on streaming platforms.
