TL;DR

Chris Candela and AOSM have released an official remix of "Shined On Me" by Nicola Fasano, Karl8 & Andrea Monta on mau5trap. The darker, bass-heavy rework blends electro house, bass house, and tech house influences and was completed in under a week, personally approved by deadmau5.

“After hearing some of the projects AOSM and I had been working on, the mau5trap team felt we could bring a fresh perspective to this classic. They invited us to create the remix, and less than a week later, it was finished.”

“We were both in the same creative headspace, which made the entire process flow effortlessly.”

“What probably surprises me the most is that the remix was personally approved by deadmau5 himself. That always puts a smile on my face.”

“The main idea was to create a dark atmosphere by blending Techno and Bass House elements into a fairly experimental approach, drawing inspiration from artists like Matroda and Chris Lake.”

“I hope this release opens new doors for emerging artists who, like me, are striving to take their music to audiences around the world.”

Chris Candela and AOSM have returned to mau5trap with an official remix of "Shined On Me," the dance floor classic by Nicola Fasano, Karl8 & Andrea Monta. The Italian-Venezuelan producer and Mexican collaborator reimagine the uplifting house original through a darker lens, blending electro house, bass house, and tech house influences into a high-energy club weapon.

From Invitation to Approval in Under a Week

The remix came together quickly after the mau5trap team reached out to the pair. Candela explained how the opportunity developed: "After hearing some of the projects AOSM and I had been working on, the mau5trap team felt we could bring a fresh perspective to this classic. They invited us to create the remix, and less than a week later, it was finished."

The duo had just wrapped their debut mau5trap release, "Move Your Feet," and AOSM had recently remixed Candela's track "Nasty" alongside Nico Falla. "We were both in the same creative headspace, which made the entire process flow effortlessly," Candela said. "What probably surprises me the most is that the remix was personally approved by deadmau5 himself. That always puts a smile on my face."

A Darker, More Experimental Approach

AOSM described the production direction as deliberately atmospheric. "The main idea was to create a dark atmosphere by blending Techno and Bass House elements into a fairly experimental approach, drawing inspiration from artists like Matroda and Chris Lake," he said. The pair cycled through multiple versions—some more melodic, others more aggressive—before landing on the final balance.

For AOSM, a producer from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, the release represents a career milestone. "Having the opportunity to officially remix international artists like Nicola Fasano, Karl8, and Andrea Monta is a major milestone in my career," he said. "I hope this release opens new doors for emerging artists who, like me, are striving to take their music to audiences around the world."

The Original and Its Architects

The original "Shined On Me" was produced by Nicola Fasano, founder of Route75 Records, and the Italian duo Karl8 & Andrea Monta. Fasano has collaborated with Pitbull, Miami Rockets, and Steve Forest, while Karl8 & Andrea Monta have built a reputation in the Afro House and Tech House scenes with releases on Armada, Sony, Positiva, Universal, and Atlantic. The original is built around uplifting house grooves, organ and piano chords, and a vocal performance that made it a dance floor staple.

Candela is currently preparing new music scheduled to begin rolling out in August. Based in Mallorca, Spain, he continues to balance production, DJing, and content creation while expanding his presence across European festivals and clubs.
