A Six-Hour Session Built on Shared Ground
COSTA and Linney wrote 'Siren Call' in a single six-hour co-writing session. Despite working in different corners of the industry, the two artists found themselves drawing from similar wells — both grappling with the pressure to prove themselves and the vulnerability that comes with it. The result is a track built around fear of judgment, of falling short, of reaching out and finding no one there.
Dark Cinematic Production with Towering Synths
Sonically, the track leans dark and cinematic. The atmosphere descends gradually while building tension. When that pressure finally breaks, the drop floods in with towering, detuned synths that blur the line between melody and noise. Linney's vocals stay wound through COSTA's production the whole way, to the point where it gets hard to tell where the track ends and the listener's own head begins. It fades out the same way it opens — with the listener alone with their thoughts.
A Breakout Year in Bass Music
COSTA's rise over the past year has been fast by any measure. He started out posting instinctual flips from his dorm room, a release run that racked up more than 5 million streams within a year and set the stage for a steady string of original material. 'Siren Call' follows his debut originals 'You Got Me' and 'Dimension', and lands in the middle of a breakout stretch that's included a Red Rocks appearance — which happened to fall on his graduation night — and the launch of his first national headline tour.
That tour has been picking up steam of its own. COSTA announced this week that his second Denver show over Thanksgiving weekend sold out, prompting the addition of a third night in the city. 'Siren Call' is out now via Monstercat.
