A Refined Club Sound
Dave Summer has built his reputation on festival lineups from Breakaway to Escapade, and his new EP reflects a producer honing his approach. Do My Thing spans five tracks that deconstruct club music to its essentials: robotic vocal samples that loop into melodic hooks, mechanical grooves, and the patient accumulation of tension that defines a properly built set.
Peak-Time Tested
The opening track, How We Do It, rides an elastic bassline and chanted refrain. Summer noted the cut has been landing during peak-time moments in his sets for months and reliably draws a big reaction. "Everything came together very naturally," he said of the track.
The EP leans into hypnotic, near-industrial sonics as it progresses. Tracks like On The Run let tension boil over as clipped vocaloid samples are swept up in whirling techno melodies. The titular closing track is the longest on the project and serves as a confident sign-off.
Authentic to the Floor
Summer framed the release as a deliberate step up in scale. "I wanted to make something authentic to my sound and that reflects the style I've been experimenting with through all the edits I've released over the past year," he told EDM.com. "With this EP, I wanted to create a larger body of work that gives people different sounds and tracks that feel cohesive together while still being unique in their own way."
Do My Thing arrives as Summer prepares to embark on his debut tour through Australia and New Zealand at the end of June 2026.
