From Seattle Meme to Denver Dancefloor
Jimothy, the Seattle raccoon who became an internet folk hero in July, is getting his own rave. The August 29 event at Milk in Denver marks the latest chapter in the viral animal's unlikely journey from neighborhood sighting to meme mascot.
For those unfamiliar, Jimothy is a wild raccoon whose compact, hunched silhouette has been attributed to short spine syndrome, an extremely rare congenital defect. Videos of his unusual shape and gait spread across social media in July, turning him into an unlikely internet celebrity.
CoClubs Brings the Raccoon Underground
Local promoter CoClubs is organizing the event, which runs from 9pm to 2am with RUDA & Friends behind the decks. Tickets are priced at $7. RUDA describes his sound as spanning electro, tech house and "real dance energy."
Milk, located in Denver's SoCo nightlife district, is a multi-room underground club directly inspired by the Korova Milk Bar from Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film A Clockwork Orange. The venue regularly leans into alternative dance culture and themed events, making it a fitting home for a raccoon-themed dance party.
The Jimothy Rave takes place August 29 at Milk in Denver. Tickets are available now.
