EDC Las Vegas Celebrates 30 Years with Half a Million Attendees

By Matt White

EDC Las Vegas returned to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway from May 15-17, 2026, for its 30th anniversary edition. More than 500,000 attendees made the trip to the speedway, with the kineticJOURNEY theme anchoring a weekend that balanced nostalgia with forward momentum. Memory Lane, a passageway lined with footage from EDC's past, offered a visual timeline of the festival's evolution from a one-day underground rave in 1996 to one of electronic music's largest gatherings.

Historic Stage Closings and Production Upgrades

Charlotte de Witte became the first woman ever to close Kinetic Field, marking a historic moment for the festival's flagship stage. Women closed major stages across all three nights: LEVEL UP closed day one at Basspod, Lilly Palmer brought Circuit Grounds night two to a close, and Mary Droppinz ended Basspod that same night. Alison Wonderland delivered one of the most talked-about sets of the weekend at Cosmic Meadow, while KI/KI's performance on night three at Neon Garden drew widespread praise.

Production upgrades included drone shows above Kinetic Field, a fully redesigned Basspod, and a refreshed Circuit Grounds with wraparound and suspended screens. The newly debuted Insomniac Fridays stage paid homage to the brand's origins, hosting pioneers like Frankie Bones in a warehouse-style setting. Veterans Tiësto, Darude, The Prodigy, Kaskade, and Above & Beyond appeared alongside newer acts, with Tiësto making his 16th consecutive EDC appearance.

Bass Music Takes Kinetic Field

Subtronics took the prime 1:47 AM Saturday slot at Kinetic Field, bringing dubstep to the mainstage in a set that drew one of the largest crowds of the weekend. GRiZ and Wooli followed on Sunday for their first-ever B2B, commanding the festival's biggest stage and signaling how far bass music has traveled since EDC's early days.

The weekend began on the Strip with the inaugural World Party Parade, where Kaskade and Layton Giordani, collaborators on this year's official EDC anthem "Meet Again," delivered a surprise B2B. In an exclusive interview with EDM.com, Kaskade reflected on the festival's growth: "It's gone from primarily a more underground, true rave-leaning thing to now it's almost a rite of passage. It just appeals to so many more people now."

Following the conclusion of this year's edition, Insomniac announced EDC Las Vegas 2027 will expand to two weekends under the new Dusk Till Dawn format. At the time of reporting, EDC Dawn and the Dusk Till Dawn double weekend passes are sold out, with EDC Dusk passes still available.
