TL;DR

Electric Forest 2026 introduced new immersive spaces including Wander Whirled and Center Stage, which replaced Dream Emporium and Carousel Club respectively. The festival featured surprise sets from Claude VonStroke, Detox Unit, LSDream, and Illenium across intimate venues, while Tripolee received significant sound system upgrades addressing previous criticisms.

Wander Whirled and Center Stage debut

Electric Forest introduced Wander Whirled this year, replacing Dream Emporium as the festival's immersive exploration space. The new installation featured winding corridors filled with hidden performances, interactive exhibits, and unexpected surprises around nearly every corner.

Center Stage replaced Carousel Club as an intimate performance space nestled inside Wander Whirled. With ample seating and a cozy atmosphere, it quickly became one of the festival's most welcoming places to slow down without stepping away from the music entirely. King Bubble (Cam Steen and Noisemaker Dub) performed at Center Stage before an incoming storm cut the set short.

The festival also added the Tea Sanctuary inside the Library, offering attendees a peaceful escape with handcrafted herbal teas, calming scents, and cozy seating.

Surprise sets across the forest

Claude VonStroke made a surprise appearance at Grand Artique ahead of his closing set at Tripolee. Detox Unit later transformed the same intimate stage into another unexpected highlight.

LSDream appeared unannounced at The Observatory, while Illenium played a surprise set at The Honeycomb, each drawing massive, energetic crowds in uniquely intimate settings.

GRiZ, Shpongle, and upgraded sound at Tripolee

GRiZ played two distinct sets during the weekend, one at Ranch Arena and a Chasing the Golden Hour set at Sherwood Court. The Ranch set brought massive, high-energy moments, while Sherwood Court offered a warmer, more melodic experience that leaned into the golden-hour atmosphere.

Shpongle delivered a dense, psychedelic soundscape built from layered instrumentation, shifting rhythms, and hypnotic transitions. Vincent Antone brought a soulful blend of funk, electronic production, and infectious grooves.

Tripolee received noticeable sound upgrades this year. Long criticized for inconsistent sound in previous editions, the stage seemed noticeably louder and fuller throughout the weekend, with the upgraded sound system making a significant difference whether watching from the rail or further back in the crowd.

Electric Forest 2026 took place last weekend in Rothbury, Michigan, welcoming tens of thousands of festival-goers back to Sherwood Forest. The festival featured noticeable upgrades to sound and production across nearly every stage and delivered nearly perfect weather for most of the weekend, with comfortably cool temperatures.
