Ellie Goulding has filed a lawsuit against her former managers, Ben Mawson and Ed Millet of TaP Management, alleging they concealed a conflict of interest that harmed her career. The two managed Goulding from 2018 until 2025.
Undisclosed Live Nation ownership
According to the complaint, Goulding was unaware that TaP's parent company, HNOE, was owned by Live Nation. HNOE was partially owned by the entertainment giant when Goulding signed with TaP in 2018, then became fully owned by Live Nation in 2019. Throughout this period, Mawson and Millet allegedly collected a 20% commission as Goulding participated in Live Nation-powered tours, merchandise sales, and documentary filming.
Allegations of contractual conflict
The claim states that the managers "had a personal interest or duty in dealings between Ms. Goulding and companies in the Live Nation group which was in actual or potential conflict with the interests of Ms. Goulding in securing the best commercial terms with whichever promoter, merchandiser or other counterparty it was most advantageous for her to deal with," according to Variety.
Goulding's legal team argues her former managers were contractually prohibited from terminating or reducing their management clients' business relationships with Live Nation or its affiliates, potentially limiting her ability to secure better deals elsewhere.
Goulding recently released the single "Ravers," which will appear on her sixth studio album, I Know Too Much, due September 4.
