Defected Records Signs Debut Single
Elvis Guetta has released his first track, "The Boss," through Defected Records. The 22-year-old producer secured the house music label for his debut single, which became available November 6th. The track honors the late James Brown, known as the "Godfather of Soul," and uses samples cleared directly by Brown's grandson, Jason.
The release has circulated on social media and drawn attention from house artists including Kinahau, Alex Wann, James Hype, and Marten Horger.
House and Tech Focus After Summer Tour
Before the release, Guetta completed a three-month summer tour through Europe and Canada, playing clubs and festivals in England, France, Spain, Ibiza, and Greece. His sound leans toward house, minimal, and tech, with hip hop and funk influences—a departure from his father David Guetta's mainstream electronic work.
Nepotism Questions Follow Release
The debut has sparked online debate over whether David Guetta's industry connections helped secure the Defected deal and the James Brown sample clearance. Critics have pointed to nepotism, though supporters note the younger Guetta's touring schedule and early career momentum as evidence of his own dedication to the scene.
"The Boss" marks the beginning of Elvis Guetta's active year as a touring DJ and producer, with fall dates already planned.
