Fred again.. and Tame Impala are reportedly in talks to headline Coachella 2027 in Indio alongside Dua Lipa, according to a new industry report from HITS Daily Double. The outlet claims Tame Impala is expected as a headliner while Fred is being eyed for the festival's prominent "giant at the bottom of the poster" slot, which has historically featured electronic music superstars including Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia.

Electronic Music's Growing Festival Footprint

DJs, producers and live electronic acts comprised 45% of Coachella's 2026 lineup, up from 39% in 2025. Electronic dance music has claimed the lion's share of Coachella's bookings for two years in a row.

Two Dance Forces with Different Approaches

The bookings would put two very different but deeply connected festival forces near the top of the bill. Tame Impala, the psych-pop project of Kevin Parker, headlined Coachella back in 2019 after earlier appearances in 2011, 2013 and 2015. His stagecraft has long blurred the line between rock headliner and electronic auteur with synth-heavy production, hypnotic grooves and a live show built for massive outdoor stages.

Fred again.. occupies a different corner of the same conversation. The British beatsmith, one of the decade's biggest breakout stars in electronic music, joined Skrillex and Four Tet for a last-minute Coachella closing set in 2023 after Frank Ocean dropped out of Weekend 2, a blockbuster performance that ultimately was named by EDM.com as one of the year's defining festival moments.

Coachella 2027 is scheduled for April 9-11 and 16-18 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The full lineup is expected in the weeks ahead.
