A Deepening Creative Partnership
GORDO produced the beats for nine tracks on MAID OF HONOUR, one of three albums Drake released simultaneously last week. The producer also contributed to "WNBA" from HABIBTI, another project included in the three-album drop.
For GORDO, born Diamanté Blackmon, the moment carries weight beyond another major placement. "2 years in the making… one of the proudest moments of my life," he wrote on Instagram. "This project is for the electronic dance community, for the Latino community, and for everybody that's been with us on this journey from day one."
From Carnage to Club Music
Long before GORDO became one of Drake's recurring club-music collaborators, Blackmon rose to prominence in the EDM world as Carnage, building a reputation on festival trap and hip-hop crossover records. In 2021, he launched GORDO, a house and techno-focused project that signaled a sharp creative pivot and ultimately became his long-term creative direction.
That reinvention soon intersected with Drake's own dance-music exploration. GORDO previously contributed heavily to Drake's 2022 album Honestly, Nevermind, a pivotal release that pushed one of the world's biggest rappers deeper into house and club-driven production. His expanded role on MAID OF HONOUR suggests that partnership has only grown more central.
MAID OF HONOUR is available now on all streaming platforms.
