TL;DR

GRiZ and Subtronics headlined the inaugural GRIZTRONICS at The Gorge on May 23–24, delivering four sets each across two sold-out nights. The festival celebrated the duo's evolution since their 2019 collaboration, though Live Nation faced criticism over lengthy entry delays and traffic issues affecting campground arrivals.

“The Gorge is an incredible destination, and we want fans to enjoy every part of the experience at the venue”

Seven Years After the Hit

GRiZ and Subtronics brought GRIZTRONICS at The Gorge to life over two sold-out nights on May 23–24, transforming their 2019 collaboration into a full-scale festival. The weekend featured four sets from each artist—two solo performances and two back-to-back showcases—across both days.

When 'Griztronics' first dropped seven years ago, GRiZ was further along in his career than Subtronics, but both have since evolved into cornerstones of modern electronic music. The Gorge event marked a reunion built on that shared growth.

Two Nights, Four Sets Each

Saturday opened with GRiZ's headlining set, which began with a narration framing the weekend's theme: "This is a story about synergy because every peanut butter needs its jelly. Because without it, you're just suffocating in a sticky roof of your mouth dessert of despair." The intro dissolved into GRiZ's unreleased remix of Subtronics' 'Gangstas,' a track the latter had never heard before.

The format gave fans two solo sets and two collaborations from each artist. Saturday featured GRiZ's 'Chasing the Golden Hour,' followed by Subtronics' headline performance and their first back-to-back. Sunday flipped the script: Subtronics delivered a sunset set before GRiZ took over ahead of their second collaboration. Each day featured unique set designs.

Sunday's performances stood out. GRiZ's second set included live brass musicians, frequent collaborator ProbCause, and vocalist Kaleena Zanders, whose performances of 'Where You Are' and 'Nobody Else' resonated against the Gorge backdrop.

Traffic and Logistics Issues

Live Nation, which owns and operates the venue and campgrounds, faced criticism over entry delays. Lines to enter camping stretched for miles by early Friday afternoon, with some festivalgoers reporting wait times exceeding seven hours. Attendees cited limited access to bathrooms, food, water, and shelter while stuck in traffic in Eastern Washington heat.

A Live Nation representative told EDM.com that more than 50,000 fans attended the weekend "with minimal traffic delays and no significant campground or venue entry issues." The company said staff "made immediate adjustments to help improve traffic flow, including opening additional security screening lanes." Live Nation outlined planned improvements including earlier campground openings, additional security lanes during peak arrival periods, venue gates opening at least two hours before music begins, and increased security screening capacity.

GRIZTRONICS at The Gorge took place May 23–24, 2026, at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington.
