A Return to Electro-Soul
GRiZ surprised fans today with the announcement of Future Funk Vol. 1, a 10-track album arriving this Friday, June 5. The project signals a deliberate pivot back to the electro-soul and funkstep sound that built his reputation, following months spent exploring heavier dubstep through collaborations with Wooli on 'Chaos Theory', Levity on 'Pop Off', and Tape B on 'Light You Up'.
A kaleidoscopic visual trailer accompanying the announcement offers a preview of the music, which overflows with shimmering saxophone riffs, booming horn sections, and classic hip-hop vocal samples. The teaser tracks showcase the vibrant funkstep energy that long-time listeners have been anticipating.
Valley of the Seven Stars Returns
The album news arrives alongside the announcement that GRiZ's curated festival, Valley of the Seven Stars, will return to Oak Ridge Estate in Arrington, Virginia from October 9-11. The producer will deliver three performances at the event, which follows its 2025 debut.
Future Funk Vol. 1 drops on streaming platforms June 5. Fans can pre-save the album now.
