TL;DR

Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event have announced Map Point Summit, a three-day conference for electronic music professionals, independent promoters, and aspiring creators debuting in Las Vegas in May 2027. The event will take place at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas between EDC's two May weekends, combining ADE's conference expertise with Insomniac's festival and live event experience. The summit grew from a keynote Pasquale Rotella delivered at ADE's 30th edition, focusing on supporting independent promoters and creating opportunities for the next generation of rave culture.

“We need to support independent promoters, share knowledge, create opportunities for the next generation, and work together to build an industry that allows rave culture to thrive on its own terms”

A New Industry Gathering Between EDC Weekends

Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event have announced Map Point Summit, a three-day conference for electronic music professionals, independent promoters, and aspiring creators. The inaugural event will take place at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas in May 2027, scheduled between EDC's Dusk weekend (May 14–16) and Dawn weekend (May 21–23).

The summit is designed to connect people at different career stages—from newcomers to established industry figures—for educational sessions, industry conversations, creative workshops, and networking. ADE brings three decades of conference experience, while Insomniac contributes its background in festivals, clubs, and live events.

The Map Point Reference

The name recalls an underground rave tradition: before mobile phones, event organizers kept party locations secret until the night itself. Ravers would travel to a designated "map point" to receive directions and a physical map to the venue. Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event revived the term for a conference focused on helping attendees navigate their place within electronic music.

The reference also underscores the summit's emphasis on independent communities and grassroots culture. Rather than limiting participation to established companies, Map Point Summit will include rising creators and entrepreneurs alongside experienced professionals.

Origins in a Keynote at ADE

The summit grew from a keynote Pasquale Rotella delivered at the 30th edition of Amsterdam Dance Event. In a conversation with Billboard Dance Director Katie Bain titled The Future of Rave Culture and Why It Needs Its Own Industry, the Insomniac founder and CEO discussed pressures facing independent promoters and the need for electronic music to develop on its own terms.

Rotella argued that independent promoters require stronger support and that younger creators need better access to knowledge and opportunities. "We need to support independent promoters, share knowledge, create opportunities for the next generation, and work together to build an industry that allows rave culture to thrive on its own terms," Pasquale Rotella said.

Interest registration is open through the official Map Point Summit website. Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event will announce speakers, sessions, and ticket details in the coming months.
