John Summit revealed plans to build his upcoming North American arena tour around a stage production inspired by the Apple TV+ series Severance, transforming venues into environments that blend sterile corporate offices with rave culture.
Cannes Lions Panel Appearance
Summit announced the concept during a panel at the Spotify Beach event at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France. The panel explored the cultural influence of fandoms and featured South Korean artist EJAE, LinkedIn Chief Brand Officer Heather Freeland, Gap Global CMO Faby Torres, and Spotify executives Kay Hsu and Ashley Graver.
"I'm going to bring the corporate cubicle kind of lifestyle to the stage," Summit said. "It's kind of like a Severance-type vibe, but turning these arenas into giant corporate offices and also a rave."
Custom Set Design for Arena Scale
Summit's team is developing custom set design rooted in the signature Severance aesthetic of sterile cubicles and fluorescent-lit office bureaucracy. He emphasized that the scale of the production is only possible in arena settings.
"It's going to be something super special that you can't do at a traditional nightclub," Summit said.
CTRL ESCAPE Tour Details
The CTRL ESCAPE tour comprises 20 dates and kicks off October 1 at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois, the college town where Summit studied accounting before launching his music career. The tour takes its name from his sophomore album, which was released on Tax Day.
