TL;DR

JVNA has released 'Violet Genesis,' a five-track EP on her own Violet Arrow imprint. The project marks a return to the melodic bass, anime, and video game-inspired sound that defined her early career. JVNA wrote, produced, sang, and released everything herself, following the independent approach she's maintained since her 2021 debut album 'Hope In Chaos.'

A Homecoming to Melodic Bass and Anime-Inspired Sound

JVNA has released Violet Genesis, a five-track EP out now via her own Violet Arrow imprint. For fans who have followed the DJ, producer, and singer-songwriter since the beginning, the project will feel like a homecoming. JVNA built her name on melodic bass rooted in anime and video game soundtracks, a sound she spent years expanding across different stylistic territories before returning to it on this release.

"This EP is me going back to where it all started," JVNA said in a statement. "There was a sound that was just purely me: hopeful, ethereal, nostalgic. Heavy sound design, melodic bass, cinematic, anime OST and video game score inspired. That's where JVNA began, and that's where this album lives. It's me honoring where I started from while showing everything I've become."

Full Creative Control from Writing to Release

JVNA writes, produces, sings, and releases everything herself, a practice she has maintained since her debut album, 2021's Hope In Chaos. Violet Genesis follows suit through a shape-shifting collection of tracks held together by her distinctive vocals and raw emotional depth.

Five Tracks Spanning Melodic Dubstep to Drum & Bass

Opener "Digital Ghost" floats through an airy and otherworldly arrangement, plunging into cinematic drops with vocal chops slicing through the mix. "Above You" has more force, her soulful vocal performance floating atop a melodic dubstep drop before JVNA brings it home with a pumping techno sequence.

"Ephemeral" slows everything down, opening with smooth piano and a breathy, haunting vocal that drifts through the track as if in freefall. "Hyperbloom" steadies the ship, its deep bass anchoring a brighter, more grounded vocal performance. The EP then closes with "Gravity," a euphoric track that mutates from midtempo to frenetic drum & bass.

Violet Genesis is available now on streaming platforms.
