Krewella Release 'the blueprint' Ahead of New Project

Hard dance meets drum & bass

Krewella have released 'the blueprint,' the latest preview of a forthcoming project from the Chicago-born sister duo. Out now on their own Mixed Kids Records imprint, the track pairs the duo's signature soaring vocals with a hard dance cadence, filled with glitchy fragments that slice through euphoric drops before an unexpected drum & bass finale.

A nod to legacy and innovation

Over a decade ago, Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf helped write the blueprint for what dance music sounded like in the 2010s. Their 2013 debut album Get Wet and its Platinum anthem 'Alive' were inescapable, and 'the blueprint' nods to that legacy while pushing into the future. The lyrical hook says it all: "You are more than a remix, baby, you're the original."

"The blueprint is an ode to the ones who embark on the lonely journey of going places no one has ever gone and holding the torch for everyone following," the duo said in a statement. "We end in a drum n bass finale that mixes classic breaks, transient bass plucks, and unexpected elements that help make this song one of the most unique we as sisters have ever made."

Continued creative resurgence

According to a press release, 'the blueprint' will appear on a forthcoming larger project from Krewella and marks the fourth single they've released this year since returning from an extended hiatus after 2022's The Body Never Lies. The duo has been steadily exploring more club-driven territory across their recent output, including the release of the melodic techno track 'Something Sacred.'

Krewella are now gearing up for performances at Excision's Lost Lands festival this fall as well as a string of headline shows across the US and UK.
