TL;DR

Andrew Fedyk of Loud Luxury is seeking a formal investigation after his dog Dunkin died while boarded at Smart Dogs Training Academy in Studio City. Fedyk says seven families have reported dogs dying under mysterious circumstances at the facility and has contacted LAPD and L.A. Animal Services. A necropsy is planned to determine the cause of death.

Andrew Fedyk of Loud Luxury has asked the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Animal Services to investigate Smart Dogs Training Academy in Studio City after his dog died while boarded at the facility, according to KTLA.

The Incident at Smart Dogs Training Academy

Fedyk said he and his wife had recently welcomed a new baby and arranged to board their dog, Dunkin, at the facility. Staff members took Dunkin and other dogs to a park earlier in the day, then decided the heat was too intense and transported the animals to a kennel in Hollywood instead. Sometime after that, Dunkin died.

Seven Families Report Similar Deaths

Since Dunkin's death, several other pet owners have come forward with similar accounts. Fedyk said seven different families have had dogs die under mysterious circumstances while in the care of Jeff Todd and Smart Dogs Training, with zero explanation provided.

Fedyk plans to have a necropsy performed to determine Dunkin's cause of death. The results could determine whether the case moves beyond a private dispute into a formal law enforcement matter. No criminal charges have been announced, and it remains unclear how many animals may ultimately be linked to complaints against the facility.
