A Sequel Two Decades in the Making
Madonna has released Confessions II, her latest album and a spiritual successor to 2005's Confessions on a Dance Floor. Among the standout collaborations is "Bizarre," a track produced by Martin Garrix that pairs the pop icon's vocal delivery with the Dutch DJ's signature synth work.
The anthemic song arrives nearly two decades after the original Confessions on a Dance Floor reshaped Madonna's sound for the disco-revival era. "Bizarre" takes a different path, layering Garrix's shimmering synths beneath Madonna's effortlessly cool vocal delivery.
From 'Animals' to Pop Songwriting
Garrix has spent the years since his breakout hit "Animals" expanding into pop songwriting, working with artists including Dua Lipa on "Scared to Be Lonely," Bebe Rexha on "In the Name of Love," and Troye Sivan on "There for You." The collaboration with Madonna marks another step in that evolution.
The chart-topping DJ recently debuted "Bizarre" live at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. In a celebratory announcement, he described the experience of working with Madonna as humbling, writing that he was "very grateful to be a little part of this" before calling the new album "crazy."
What's Next
Confessions II is available now on streaming platforms. Garrix had previously said he was "starstruck" when he met the Queen of Pop in New York to record their collaboration.
