Grant County authorities have arrested a 28-year-old man following the death of a festival attendee at Bass Canyon, the Pacific Northwest bass music festival held at the Gorge Amphitheatre August 14-16.
Attendee Dies After Taking Controlled Substances
Zion Randall, a 27-year-old attendee from Olympia, Washington, passed away at the venue's medical area after taking controlled substances from another attendee, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Kyle Foreman said the death is being labeled as a drug poisoning rather than an overdose.
Undercover Operation Leads to Arrest
Grant County's Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team identified Quincy R. Travers, 28, as a suspect and conducted an undercover investigation at the festival. Officers purchased suspected illegal substances from Travers before arresting him on suspicion of one count of delivery of a controlled substance and three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. The charges comprise one count each for cocaine, ketamine, and MDMA allegedly found in his possession.
Bass Canyon returned to the Gorge Amphitheatre for its eighth annual edition this year, drawing thousands to one of the West Coast's largest bass music festivals.
