The Mexico City-born collective Mayan Warrior will make its Chicago debut on July 17, 2026, bringing its full art car experience to Union Park in the city's Fulton Market district. The event is produced in collaboration with Auris Presents, the team behind ARC Music Festival.
Midwest Expansion for Touring Collective
While Mayan Warrior has toured extensively across Mexico, Los Angeles, New York, and Miami, the Chicago date marks the collective's first appearance in the Midwest. The structure has become a fixture at festivals and standalone events since its founding.
From Burning Man Icon to Galaxyer
Founder Pablo González Vargas and a collective of Mexican and Northern California artists built the original Mayan Warrior in 2011. It became one of Burning Man's most recognizable installations before being destroyed in a fire en route to a Punta de Mita fundraiser in April 2023. Its successor, the Galaxyer, debuted in 2024 with upgraded lasers, sound systems, and an industrial design conceived as a futuristic Mayan spaceship.
Auris Presents Expands Chicago Programming
The standalone Mayan Warrior event precedes Auris Presents' annual ARC Music Festival, which takes over Union Park during Labor Day weekend. This year's edition will expand to four days and feature Anyma, Underworld, Michael Bibi, Honey Dijon, Derrick Carter, and Sara Landry's ETERNALISM, among others.
Tickets for the July 17 event are on sale now.
