Missing Shambhala Attendee Kayla Boisvert Found Safe

Family Confirms Safe Return

Kayla Boisvert, an attendee of this year's Shambhala Music Festival who had been missing since July 27, has been located safely, her family announced in a statement. The 28-year-old paramedic from Trenton, Ontario, was last seen on the festival's grounds at approximately 2:15am PT on July 27.

In an update shared on an Instagram account created by Boisvert's twin sister Dianna, the family said they believe the situation may stem from a mental health crisis. The most recent post announced she'd been safely reunited with her family.

"Kayla has been found," the statement reads. "Thank you all for your support and donations to get family there to meet her. She is safe and the family asks for privacy still. As we stated all overflow donations will go to the amazing search and rescue team in Salmo."

Multi-Day Search Effort

Shortly before she disappeared, Boisvert attempted to call her sister. "I was sleeping and called her back instantly when I realized that she called," Dianna told CBC News, adding that the call went straight to voicemail.

In the days after her disappearance, friends, festival security, medical staff, local authorities and area hospitals had been unable to locate her as unsubstantiated rumors spread rampantly on social media. Police then confirmed a new sighting of Boisvert and released security camera images, dated July 29 at approximately 8:30pm south of Salmo.

A GoFundMe campaign raised more than $20,000 to support search efforts. Shambhala took place July 24-27 at Salmo River Ranch in British Columbia, Canada. The circumstances surrounding Boisvert's disappearance have not been revealed by the family, who have requested privacy at this time as they gather facts.
