After years of singles, collaborations and remixes, Moojo has released his first full-length album, ALMA, through his own Calamar Records imprint. Created between friends, the project traces a path from Afro house towards house while keeping live instrumentation throughout. It also brings more of Moojo's own story into focus following releases including Secret ID, Hate It or Love It, Vamonos and Desperado.
A Collaborative Foundation
Long in the making, ALMA began with a simple idea: renting a house and making music with friends. That process became the foundation for an album that places collaboration at the centre while giving Moojo room to explore more of the influences behind his music.
Born and raised in Nice, France, Moojo has developed a sound that brings African, Latin and electronic influences together. His press kit describes ALMA as a project focused on his musical DNA, with live instruments, soulful vocals and cinematic inspiration recorded in his hometown. That background carries through an album that gradually shifts from Afro house into house without losing the musical details that have become part of his work.
EA SPORTS FC 27 Placement and Label Roots
Releasing ALMA through Calamar Records keeps the project closely connected to Moojo's own journey. He started the label from his room and has used it to support emerging artists and friends, making it a natural home for an album created through that same collaborative approach.
The album includes Freedom, which has been selected for EA SPORTS FC 27, alongside previously released single Show Me. The placement gives one of ALMA's tracks another audience while the full project introduces a broader side of Moojo's music.
Amsterdam Dance Event First Listen
One day before release, Moojo presented ALMA during an exclusive first listen at SHU Amsterdam as part of Amsterdam Dance Event. Trumpeter Renaud Gensane, who has played with Ibrahim Maalouf, joined album co-producer Hugo for the event.
The session formed part of Calamar All Day Long, which also featured Bun Xapa, Demayä, Kashovski and other artists connected to the label. Coming just before the album's release, the gathering reflected the same group of friends and collaborators that helped bring ALMA together. ALMA is now available via Calamar Records.
