TL;DR

Moore Kismet, the electronic music producer and EDM.com Class of 2021 alum, will premiere their short film "The view is great!" on August 22 at Regal Cinemas North Hollywood. The project was created as part of the 48 Hour Film Project, in which teams write, shoot, and edit a four-to-seven-minute short within 48 hours based on assigned parameters.

Moore Kismet is stepping behind the camera. The producer announced this week that their short film The view is great! will premiere theatrically as part of the Los Angeles chapter of the 48 Hour Film Project.

48-Hour Sprint to the Screen

The festival's format assigns each team a genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue, then gives them exactly 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a four-to-seven-minute short. Kismet, whose real name is Omar Davis, collaborated with friends to complete the project under the tight deadline.

"If you've known me for a long time, aspirations of getting into filmmaking and writing screenplays have been a huge part of my life since before I ever touched a DAW," Davis told EDM.com. "When life got really hectic with Moore Kismet-related things, it got put on the back burner. But I've always felt an urge to create interesting but meaningful stories in an artistic medium that isn't music to do the same thing I've always wanted to do with my art: to uplift real conversations and deeper emotions about the different things that we experience in our lives."

From the Rail to the Theater

Davis added that the film will surprise audiences who think they know what to expect. "I'm incredibly grateful to my wickedly talented friends for taking the time out of their weekend to write, shoot, edit and act in this film with me," Davis said. "I'm excited for everyone to see what we were able to accomplish in just two days' time! And if you think you have an idea of what the story would be like, you're in for a major surprise."

The screening takes place August 22 at 6:30 PM PT at Regal Cinemas North Hollywood. Tickets are available through the 48 Hour Film Project website by selecting screening block I.
