Incident at Zilker Park
A man stripped naked and allegedly damaged sound equipment during The Chainsmokers' performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on Friday, according to eyewitness accounts shared on social media. The incident unfolded at Zilker Park during the duo's set on the festival's Snapchat stage, their second performance after a muddy debut weekend.
Eyewitness Accounts
Festival attendees shared their accounts in a Reddit discussion, describing a violent disruption that involved confrontations with sound crew members. One attendee wrote that the man had completely undressed, smeared mud on himself and thrown punches at people who urged him to put his clothes back on.
Another person who said they were inside the sound booth during the incident reported the man "started destroying the soundbooth and stormed the barricade to the main stage." That commenter also shared video that appears to show the man nude in the area, though the footage has not been independently verified.
Artist Response
Drew Taggart, one half of The Chainsmokers, acknowledged the commotion in a comment on a TikTok video. "naked man is sending me," he wrote before the clip was deleted.
As of Monday morning, ACL organizers had not publicly addressed the incident. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured, whether equipment was damaged or whether the man was arrested. The man was ultimately removed from the crowd, according to footage shared by another attendee.
