The organizers of Deep Tropics have canceled the festival's 2026 edition and signaled that its nearly decade-long run in Nashville is likely over. The Labor Day weekend event, branded "Music City Underground," was scheduled to take place at The Pinnacle at Nashville Yards.
Financial pressures and venue setbacks
In a statement, organizers said the decision was driven by extreme circumstances and funding that didn't come together. The team acknowledged that Deep Tropics "faced financial headwinds throughout its existence," with the last 11 months proving especially difficult. A Metro inspection at the venue led to the cancellation of the festival's first-ever spring event, Equinox, in March—just two days before it was set to begin.
A sustainability-first model
Launched in 2017 by Nashville promoter Full Circle Presents, Deep Tropics built its identity around a zero-waste model through its Deep Culture nonprofit. The festival billed itself as the "greenest festival in North America" and reported diverting 96% of the event's waste from landfills in 2024.
Co-founder Blake Atchison told EDM.com in a July 2024 interview that the goal was to go beyond the festival model and help make Nashville the most sustainable city it could be.
