No/Me has spent years writing for David Guetta, Ava Max, and Steve Aoki, and lending her voice to tracks from Disco Lines and Seven Lions. Her new single, 'Magic,' marks her first solo release in the genre she's helped shape from behind the scenes.
Written in the early days of a relationship
No/Me wrote the pop-house track during the unverified stretch of a new relationship, back when a text left on read could still ruin an afternoon. The lyrics capture the jittery excitement of someone checking their phone at red lights and rehearsing casual conversation like scripted dialogue.
She recorded 'Magic' with friends who would later form the alt-rock trio Temper City. The lyrics "I found a miracle in your soul / There's something in your magic / I can't live without it" were written before she had proof it was true, the way people write wedding vows they haven't lived yet.
From demo to marriage
No/Me has since married the man she was dating when she wrote the song. Temper City went on to score their first Billboard chart-topper with the global hit 'Self Aware.'
