Oliver Tree's family has announced plans to livestream his memorial service on July 25, opening the celebration of life to fans around the world. The service will take place at the UCSC Quarry Amphitheater on the University of California, Santa Cruz campus in Tree's hometown.
Limited In-Person Attendance Prompts Streaming Decision
Space at the venue will be restricted to family and close friends, prompting the decision to offer a public stream. Details on how to access the livestream have not yet been released but are expected soon.
Industry Tributes Continue to Pour In
Whethan, one of Tree's earliest collaborators and closest friends, announced this week that he is withdrawing from a scheduled performance at Shambhala to attend the service. He joins a wave of artists who have paid tribute since Tree's death, including Kid Cudi, Post Malone, Zedd, Getter, Subtronics, and T-Pain.
Foundation Launched in Tree's Memory
The eccentric singer-songwriter, born Oliver Tree Nickell, died on June 14 at the age of 32 after two helicopters collided midair over Rio de Janeiro. His family has since launched a foundation in his name, Dr. Oliver Tree's Extremely Epic Art Grant for Baby Geniuses, honoring a plan he had written into his will to funnel his wealth back into the artist community.
The memorial service will be held on July 25 at UCSC Quarry Amphitheater in Santa Cruz.
