OZORA Festival in Dadpuszta, Hungary, ended its music program at midnight Sunday, two days ahead of schedule, after two attendees died on Saturday, August 1st. Organizers announced the decision through social media, expressing deep sadness over the separate incidents.
The Incidents
A 39-year-old woman suffered cardiac arrest during festival hours on Saturday. Emergency medical teams arrived within minutes but were unable to revive her. According to reports from The Strait Times, heat conditions may have been a factor in the medical emergency. Hungary had been under a heat alert, and the festival had been contending with heatwave conditions throughout the event.
In a separate incident, a 45-year-old man climbed a decorative structure at the festival. Authorities are investigating the circumstances, and organizers indicated there may have been suicidal intent.
Festival Response
Following the tragedies, OZORA organizers announced that all stages would cease programming at midnight, cutting short the 12-day gathering that had begun July 24th and was scheduled to run through August 4th. The festival urged attendees to take care of themselves and each other as the heat alert remained in effect.
OZORA is known for its wide array of programming, including psytrance, psytechno, ambient, downtempo, alternative, and experimental music, alongside multiple workshops and classes.
