Pretty Lights Opens Remix Contest for 'The Sun Spreads in Our Minds'

Pretty Lights has released stems for 'The Sun Spreads in Our Minds,' one of the early tracks from his forthcoming album A Trip Thru Time Fantastic, and opened the door for fans to remix it. Producers can download the stems and submit their completed remixes through his website.

The producer framed the initiative as a new form of collaboration. "I want to use this song to open a new dimension of collaboration," he wrote. He added that he's been wanting to do this for years.

Best Remixes Could Hit the Stage

Pretty Lights said the top submissions could make it into his live performances. "Can't wait to swirl this with the band and maybe even include the dopest remixes live on stage on the Soundship Space Bus tour this fall," he wrote.

The track itself traces back to 2017, the year the album's decade-long recording process began. Fans first heard it in live sets that spring, long before a final studio version existed.

First Album in Over a Decade

The stems arrive weeks after Pretty Lights announced the end of a 13-year album drought. A Trip Thru Time Fantastic, his first album since 2013's A Color Map of the Sun, will span 45 tracks split across nine installments. The first 15 tracks are currently streaming on his website.
