TL;DR

Harvey Blumler of Leeds duo Prospa is taking a break from touring after suffering two perforated eardrums and two ear infections in six weeks. Medical advice has directed him to rest if he wants to continue performing. His partner Gosha Smith will cover all scheduled Prospa shows solo during the hiatus.

“the advice is to let them heal if I want to continue at all”

“breaks my heart that I have to take some time out due to an ongoing issue with my ears”

“this industry will push you always for more”

Harvey Blumler, one half of Leeds duo Prospa, is stepping away from live performances to allow his ears to heal after suffering two perforated eardrums and two ear infections over the past six weeks.

Medical advice forces hiatus

In a statement posted to Prospa's Instagram, Blumler explained that continuing to play shows through the injuries has prevented his ears from recovering. After consulting a specialist, he wrote, "the advice is to let them heal if I want to continue at all." He hopes to return within roughly four weeks but did not commit to a firm timeline, adding that "after proper rest, I'll be able to come back better than ever."

Partner to cover all dates

None of Prospa's scheduled shows will be canceled. Blumler's partner Guiorgi "Gosha" Smith will perform every Prospa date solo in the interim. The pause comes during a breakout period for the duo, who released their debut album Free Your Mind in June as the first full-length on CircoLoco Records.

Industry support pours in

Calvin Harris, Dom Dolla, Michael Bibi, and dozens of other artists filled the comment section with messages of support. Bibi, who returned to touring after beating a rare form of cancer in 2023, urged Blumler to protect his recovery, warning that "this industry will push you always for more" and that "there's no hack for getting rest." Dolla, who canceled shows for his own health a few years back, called prioritizing recovery the best decision he ever made, reminding Blumler that "the dance floor ain't going anywhere."

Blumler said in his statement that it "breaks my heart that I have to take some time out due to an ongoing issue with my ears."
