Label Pulls Artwork for Kevin D'Angello Single
Revealed Recordings, the dance label founded by Hardwell, has apologized for AI-generated artwork used to promote Kevin D'Angello's new single "Dirty Bitch," released October 1. The artwork depicted a neon-colored dog wearing a chain and pendant emblazoned with the word "DIRTY."
The label issued a public apology on X, calling the image "AI slop" and explaining that it was not created by their usual design team. The artwork has since been replaced.
New Approval Process Promised
Revealed said the artwork had moved "through the chain without proper approvals" and pledged to develop a new process to prevent similar material from being published. In a follow-up response, the label shared a behind-the-scenes video showing the development of another recent design and said it plans to showcase more of their process going forward.
Direct Language Reflects Industry Tensions
Revealed's response is notable for its direct language. Rather than using corporate euphemism, the label adopted the same derisive term frequently used by AI critics. The incident comes as generative AI faces heightened scrutiny throughout the creative industries, with tensions particularly visible in music, where questions surrounding AI-generated works now extend from songwriting and voice cloning to artwork and marketing materials.
Revealed Recordings' designers ordinarily create custom 3D artwork for releases. The label has committed to increased transparency around its creative process moving forward.
