Six Years in the Making
Roger Sanchez has released Spectrum, his first full-length album since 2006's Come With Me. The New York house producer spent six years assembling the project, working with vocalists and songwriters across the UK, Spain, and the US.
"During that time I got the chance to travel around the world and work with some amazing vocalists and songwriters to help me bring this project to life," Sanchez said in a statement. "I've got flavors from the UK, Spain, the US – all of this is part of the spectrum. This project is about music and frequencies and light: everything from the light to the soulful to the club-ready infrared, the emotionally-weighted ultraviolet."
Cross-Generational Collaborations
The album opens with 'Temptation,' a collaboration with Low Steppa and Ragdoll that builds around a simple piano loop. Kelli-Leigh appears on 'Midas Touch,' while former Spice Girl Melanie C lends vocals to 'I Don't Wanna Know.'
Sanchez emerged from New York's early-90s house scene alongside Todd Terry and Masters At Work, building a remix catalog that includes work for Daft Punk, Madonna, Diana Ross, and Kylie Minogue. He scored a UK number one in 2001 with 'Another Chance' and won a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording in 2003 for his rework of No Doubt's 'Hella Good.'
Sanchez will take Spectrum on the road this summer with a 'Flower Power' residency at Pacha Ibiza, playing 10 consecutive Saturday dates from June 13th through August 29th.
