A voice in the bass music scene

Excision shared news of King's passing on Instagram. "Incredibly sad to hear about the passing of Sam King, the voice behind 'G Shit' and 'Death Wish,'" he wrote. "His voice brought so much to the music, and I'm grateful we got to work together."

Both "G Shit" and "Death Wish" appeared on Virus, Excision's third album, which released a decade ago. King co-wrote both songs, and "Death Wish" arrived with an official music video. He later reconnected with Excision on "Evolution," the title track of his and Wooli's joint EP in 2019.

From SK4MC to the rave scene

A Las Vegas native, King came up in independent hip-hop under the name SK4MC, pairing high-energy bravado with lyrics about his own triumphs and struggles. He was a raver as much as a rapper, a point he made himself on "G Shit," where he traced his rave roots back to grade school.

King became a go-to collaborator for bass music producers following his work on Virus. The artist's family, friends, and loved ones are in our thoughts.
