Redirection as a Creative Force
Sara Landry has released Divine Intervention, her second album, via her own HEKATE imprint. The project arrives two years after her 2024 debut Spiritual Driveby and centers on the concept of redirection as both a creative and personal compass.
Landry wrote the album between tour dates and during a break from the road earlier this year. The same shifts carried into the studio, where a few planned collaborations became solo records and sessions meant for one track yielded different ones.
"Sometimes, you think you're going in a certain direction, and the powers or factors that be end up pulling you a completely different way," Landry said in a statement. "It might not make sense at the time, but when you look back, you realize that rejection is redirection."
Psytrance Roots and Hard Techno Peaks
The 14-track album opens with its psytrance-driven title track, a collaboration with Electric Universe, the German project that Boris Blenn and Michael Dressler started in Hamburg in 1991. Landry has credited the group as a mentor in her psytrance work.
The album then crosses heavier terrain with "Interesting," laying Landry's own spoken-word vocals over hard techno, while the Ali James-assisted "Energy" cuts loose with a driving bassline. "Expansion," made with Aaron Hibell, is a gentler yet haunting stretch meant to settle the listener.
Collaborative Textures and Atmospheric Closes
"Decon," made with Godtripper, is one of the album's more unique tracks, built on cybernetic textures and the eerie closing lyrics of "deconstruct your mind." "Feel 4 U," made with Alt8 and Saint Monet, closes the album on an atmospheric note that evokes raw emotion but sheds darkness.
Divine Intervention is out now on all streaming platforms.
