TL;DR

Sara Landry's company, Landry IP LLC, has sued her former management firm The Night Department in New York federal court, alleging the firm continued using her name and Hekate Records branding without permission after their relationship ended in late October 2025. The lawsuit claims the defendants refused to transfer control of distribution accounts and had previously sought 50% ownership of Landry's music and label without appropriate payment.

Sara Landry's company has filed suit against her former management firm in New York federal court, alleging unauthorized use of her name and Hekate Records branding after the two parties parted ways. The lawsuit, filed by Landry IP LLC, names Night Night Ltd, which operates as The Night Department, and affiliated company Prepare to Flash as defendants.

Unauthorized Use After Split

According to court documents obtained by EDM.com, the management relationship ended by late October 2025. Landry IP alleges that despite the split, the defendants continued using Landry's name and Hekate Records branding in music distribution and to promote their own management services. The complaint argues these activities created the false impression that the companies remained authorized to represent Landry and her label.

When Landry's representatives sought to transfer control of Hekate's account with distributor Believe, Prepare to Flash allegedly refused to authorize the move.

Ownership Dispute Preceded Breakup

The filing also details disagreements that surfaced before the split. The defendants allegedly sought 50% ownership of both Landry's music catalog and Hekate Records without appropriate compensation, despite Landry's stated intention to retain full ownership of her work.

Parallel UK Litigation

The Night Department has filed its own lawsuit against Landry in the UK over the termination. According to Billboard, the firm has argued it was transparent about ownership rights and did nothing to warrant dismissal. Landry has reportedly filed counterclaims in that dispute.

Through the US lawsuit, Landry IP seeks to halt the allegedly unauthorized trademark use and recover unspecified damages.
