TL;DR

SKisM has announced Never Say Die Vol. 7: The Final Never Say Die Showcase, a 100-track retrospective set for release this Friday. The mix spans two 45-minute sets and revisits the full catalogue of the influential bass music label, which shuttered in April 2022 after 13 years. The compilation features tracks from Zomboy, Eptic, Space Laces, Habstrakt, Barely Alive, Megalodon, Antiserum, and Excision, among others.

“I wanted to revisit the classics and include the best of everything since Vol. 6 to complete the set”

“I see it as two 45-minute sets with different vibes, but stitched together by a shared theme of legacy”

“achieved everything we set out to do (and more)”

A 100-Track Retrospective

More than four years after shutting its doors, Never Say Die Records is closing the book one last time. The label's co-founder, SKisM, announced Never Say Die Vol. 7: The Final Never Say Die Showcase is set for release this Friday.

Spanning 100 tracks across what SKisM describes as two contrasting 45-minute sets, Vol. 7 works backward and forward simultaneously. The mix revisits the classics and includes the best of everything since Vol. 6 to complete the set.

Legacy of a Bass Music Powerhouse

Founded in 2009, Never Say Die helped define a decade of dubstep and bass music. The imprint became home to some of the genres' most prolific artists including Zomboy, Eptic, Space Laces and Habstrakt, among dozens of other influential producers. It shuttered in April 2022 after 13 years, citing having "achieved everything we set out to do (and more)."

A 2011 remix from Barely Alive of Skrillex and Foreign Beggars' "Still Gettin It" opens a window into NSD's early ambitions, when the original track arrived at the height of dubstep's stateside breakthrough. It remains one of the label's most significant co-signs.

From Platinum to Rumble

Megalodon and Antiserum's "Platinum" from 2013 and Zomboy's ageless "Like A Bitch" from 2016 represent similarly impactful contributions to the catalogue, while tracks like Excision and Space Laces' fan-favorite "Rumble" from 2018 mark the label's continued pull from the scene's heavyweight producers deep into its final chapter. More recent work from NSD alumni rounds out the picture, serving as a reminder that the label's greatest output wasn't its releases, but the careers it made possible along the way.
